Dear A-C, The 2005-2006 school year is half over. Or half full. After semester finals come to a close, senioritis really begins to set in. Being a senior guy, I know what people are thinking. School drops down on a seniorâs list of priorities, and relationships with girls slide to the top. I know all the guys want to make an impression on the girls before their high school career is over. I canât help remembering the oath that the guys on American Pie promised to each other. Am I being a typical âanxiousâ senior guy, or do all the girls want to leave with a bang too (no pun intended, I swear)? Sincerely, Anticipating Anxiously in Ames Dear Anticipating, Since I am unacquainted with the issues boys have involving puberty, I called first nurse and read numerous volumes to research your question. The first nurse explained that it is very common for young men to feel sexually driven, especially at the end of their senior year. However, this carefree attitude is dangerous. Having sex is a big decision for young men and young women. Choosing to have sex can result in many consequences such as pregnancy, HIV/Aids, and numerous STDs. Before you choose to embark on a new adventure, make sure you-and your partner- are fully aware of the consequences and are emotionally prepared. Although you have suddenly realized the female population, donât forget about the other things that you love to do. If you suddenly begin to spend all your time with your girlfriend/s, you might start to neglect the other things that you love. For example, you might not have enough time to organize your sock drawer, or practice your cup stacking, and your other friends may become hostile The first nurse also explained that every girl has different views and opinions in relation to sex, although curiosity is normal. Instead of just trying to end the school year with a bang, as you cleverly put it, many girls would rather get to know a boy and form a trusting, caring and honest relationship with him before she chooses to give her body to a man. Make sure you know what you are doing and understand the consequences before you do something you would regret. Good Luck! Sincerely, A-C a.k.a. Ann-Charlotte Wade
