6 Reasons Buzzfeed is awful
February 24, 2015
- This.
We already know that the site is a joke, but do they have to make it so obvious?
- They’re righting skills is badder then me.
This one kind of depends on a few factors, but with most Buzzfeed articles, there isn’t much writing to begin with. When you do see writing, though, it usually isn’t the best.
- They steal content from other websites, including a parody of their own.
Clickhole, a parody of Buzzfeed created by The Onion, put up a quiz titled “Would you survive a bear attack?” on February 5th. On the 17th, Buzzfeed put up a quiz titled “Will you survive or be eaten by the bear?” Coincidence? I think not.
- The quizzes make no sense and are garbage
After taking the 7th different quiz wondering which Disney Princess you are, and getting a different answer all 7 times, you should probably go outside and get some fresh air at least once today. Or maybe take a different quiz titled, “Which Frozen character are you?”
- They steal copyrighted images without citing their source
Though Buzzfeed is getting better at this, you’re still lucky if you see any attribution for any of their images. Every other article you come across, it’s guaranteed that you’ll see pictures you can quickly find with a quick Google search of “cute cat lolz.”
- It’s buzzfeed
Buzzfeed just isn’t good. Upworthy, Huffpost, and Gawker aren’t any better. Just don’t use it, it’ll make the world a better place.
