Mr. Landhauser: From Marshalltown to Ames

Jon Landhauser is a new teacher at Ames High School, in the Social Studies department. We stopped by his classroom to give him a chance to introduce himself to the school. 

 

Q: How long have you been teaching? 

A: This is my 8th year teaching.

 

Q: What school districts have you worked with in the past?

A: I was previously teaching in Marshalltown. 

 

Q: How does Ames compare to your previous school/s? 

A: Ames is very similar in makeup to Marshalltown, but the Ames community in general seems to be far more involved and have a greater sense of desire to be successful.

 

Q: What classes are you currently teaching? 

A: I teach World Studies and U.S. History.

 

Q: What inspired you to become a teacher?

A: I had some great teachers in my past, and wanted to provide the educational experience to youth today that I had when I was in school. 

 

Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching? 

A: I enjoy getting the opportunity to assist students in growing both personally and educationally. 

 

Q: What would you like your students to know about you? 

A: I have a wife and three little kids, and I love everything Iowa State. 

 

Q: What do you do for fun? (Hobbies, favorite sports teams, etc.)

A: I enjoy watching movies, playing golf, and hanging out with my family.
