Iron Man 3 Review
Who says you have to be bitten by a radioactive spider to have superpowers? In the immensely-anticipated Iron Man 3, the man in the suit is back. Played by the brilliantly arrogant Robert Downey Jr., Tony Stark is confronted with a new enemy, The Mandarin, while finding that this villain is not the only problem he should be worried about. The series based off of the Marvel comic books comes back with a bang in the third movie. Directed by Shane Black and produced by Drew Pearce, this action movie is delivered in a way that is sure to leave you at least somewhat satisfied. Black keeps anticipation prolonged throughout most of the film, while also adding humorous sides. By doing so, he keeps the spectators intrigued and interested in the motion picture. With a decent screenplay written by Drew Pearce, the movie takes a more personal side to the life of the man under the metal. It not only captures the action of a typical superhero, but the plot also goes deeper into the “true meaning” of being a superhero. Although Robert Downey Jr. brings much, much, much of the greatness in the movie to what it is, the supporting roles bring their fair share to the film. Gwyenth Paltrow revives her character of Penny, who develops more as the movie continues. The main villain, The Mandarin, is played by Ben Kingsley who brings a serious and real side to the character. However, with any movie, there are a few imperfections. The beginning provides a great climactic start keeping you on the edge of your seat, to only leave you a bit bored while he spends much of the movie working on his metal suit. I am definitely no Iron Man fanatic, or even a comic book fanatic. The movie was great of course but it didn’t leave me with my jaw wide open like I did after The Dark Knight Rises came to a close, and it didn’t have me just absolutely love superheroes as I did after The Avengers. And surprisingly, Iron Man 3 resembles The Dark Knight in many ways but not living up all the way to the level The Dark Knight was at. But definitely, I thought that this third movie was by far better than the slightly disappointing sequel. But truly the better weighed out the worse in most situations. It was interesting to see something different at times than the typical soaring through the sky scene, while instead looking into Tony Stark and his vulnerabilities. But of course there were the Iron Man superhero flight scenes, like always. Plus, after you watch the movie you might feel a little bit empowered as a person and maybe even want to be a superhero. But really, who doesn’t want to be a superhero sometimes? Iron Man 3 was definitely not a bad movie and is somewhat worth watching. With a good cast but a great lead role, an interesting plot, and a change of pace in the series, I don’t think you will regret it. Nothing will really ever be able to top having superpowers when youâre a superhero, but Iron Man 3 will prove to you that having a suit with powers is pretty cool too.
