The arrival of the Golden Globes marks the beginning of a long anticipated awards season. Red carpets are unrolled and, in time, decorated with shimmering gowns and sharp suits, coveted even by the stars themselves.

Golden Globes 2016 rose to the occasion, with a plethora of A-list celebrities taking fashion risks (whether good or bad) and making blush-worthy jokes, the audience was swept to say the least.

Fashion-wise, the celebs that stood out the most include Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lawrence, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Kirsten Dunst, Alicia Vikander, and Jaimie Alexander.  

Jennifer Lawrence stole the show in her red, cut-out ensemble. Paired with a sparkling, silver necklace, she looked daring while also giving a classic piece a modern twist by opting for cutouts. The necklace also flowed beautifully with the dress, almost appearing as an attachment. It was the perfect look for Lawrence at this year’s Golden Globes.

Jenna Dewan Tatum looked ravishing in her midnight blue gown, decorated intricately with beading that shone like stars. While her outfit for this year’s Golden Globes was beautiful, I don’t think she quite topped her look from last year; that lemon-yellow gown, paired casually with beach-waved hair was naturally stunning and incredibly hard to beat. At least this year, she went for a different vibe to turn the tables.

The look that stole the night for me, personally, was worn by Swedish actress Alicia Vikander. Nominated for her successful roles in Ex Machina and The Danish Girl, she arrived at the red carpet in a, at first glance, modest gown, that hid some party in the back. Her white gown, that was neck high in the front and accented with a subtly ruffled neckline, dipped low in the back with criss-crossed straps. The pleated skirt gave it a retro, yet modern, vibe. Pleats are coming back in people, watch out for it! Overall, Vikander looked elegantly chic and definitely won best dressed in my book.
